READ.ME **************************** DOS-CALC *****************************
===================
OMBUDSMAN STATEMENT
===================
DOS-CALC is produced by a member of the Association of Shareware Professionals
(ASP). ASP wants to make sure that the shareware principle works for you. If
you are unable to resolve a shareware-related problem with an ASP member by
contacting the member directly, ASP may be able to help. The ASP Ombudsman
can help you resolve a dispute or problem with an ASP member, but does not
provide technical support for members' products. Please write to the ASP
Ombudsman at 545 Grover Road, Muskegon, MI 49442 or send a CompuServe message
via CompuServe Mail to ASP Ombudsman 70007,3536.
Register your copy of DOS-CALC from the author today by
sending a check or money order for $12 (US currency) to:
DOS-CALC
3120 HOMESTEAD DR

future releases of DOS-CALC. Future releases will be available
directly from the author for $ 5.00 per disk (subject to change,
depending upon shipping and material costs), through your local ASP
disk vendor or ASP BBS. Registered user's of DOS-CALC are notified
immediately by mail of each new release.
Registered user's also can receive support by contacting CompuServe
user id: 70313,3540 or by mail at the address listed above.
Please include your name and address to register your copy of
DOS-CALC. REGISTER.TXT has been included to make it even easier.
Thank you for being honest - I trusted you!
Please share this program with others by copying ALL of the files
in there original form. Do not add to or alter any of the files.
************************* INSTALLATION *****************************
Copy all of the original DOS-CALC files to a floppy disk for
backup purposes.
Select the directory you have the DOS-CALC files located in and
type INSTALL
DOS-CALC's installation program will guide you through making
a directory, copying its files and self extracting them. It
WILL NOT alter your AUTOEXEC.BAT file or any other files.
Refer to the OPTIONAL and CHECK instructions listed below.
*******************************************************************
IF you prefer to install DOS-CALC yourself, follow the steps
listed below:
DOS-CALC will self-extract itself into the current directory you
have selected. NOTE: ALL OF DOS-CALC's FILES MUST BE IN ONE
DIRECTORY.
DOS-CALC can be installed on your hard disk or on a floppy disk.
If you will be installing DOS-CALC to a floppy disk, you need to
use a 720k or 1.44m 3-1/2"disk or a 1.2m 5-1/4" disk. There will
not be enough room to extract all of DOS-CALC's files on one 360k
disk.
*******************************************************************
1. Create a separate directory for the DOS-CALC files on the hard
disk drive. Example:
C:> MD CALC
2. Change to the directory you just created. Example:
C:> CD\CALC
3. Copy DC30.EXE to the directory you just created. Example
(replace A: with the drive:[\path] where DC30.EXE is located,
if different than drive A:):
C:\CALC> COPY A:\DC30.EXE
4. Run DC30.EXE to extract the DOS-CALC files in the directory
you just created. Example:
C:\CALC> DC30
5. Delete the self-extracting file DC30.EXE from the directory.
Example:
C:\CALC> DEL DC30.EXE
Remove your backup disk from its drive and store it in a save place.
OPTIONAL **********************************************************
If you will be running DOS-CALC from the command line, rather than
from a shell program, you might want to add the DOS-CALC directory
to the PATH statement within your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. You will then
only need to type the command line DC (without the drive and
directory specification) to run DOS-CALC. Example:
PATH C:;C:\DOS;.........;C:\CALC
An alternate method is to add the following statement in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
SET DOS-CALC=C:\CALC
CHECK *************************************************************
Check to be sure you don't have another executable file named DC in
a directory which is called out in the PATH statement. IF you do,
change the name of DOS-CALC's DC.BAT file to another convenient
(unique) name. Example (to change DC to CALC):
C:\CALC> REN DC.BAT CALC.BAT
NOTE: If DOS-CALC "hangs-up" it is because there is another file
named DC.BAT, DC.EXE or DC.COM located in the currently
selected directory or in a directory which is called out in
the PATH statement. To correct, follow the instructions
above (rename DC.BAT).
*******************************************************************
*******************************************************************
A complete manual is included. Use a text editor or text file
viewer to open DOS-CALC.TXT (the manual). Instructions for running
DOS-CALC under WINDOWS is given in the manual.
To run DOS-CALC, just type DC at the DOS prompt (refer to OPTIONAL
and CHECK instructions listed previously).
*******************************************************************
*******************************************************************
DC-CONST.EXE, DC-CONV.EXE and DC-HELP.EXE are run from within
DOS-CALC. Unexpected results will occur if you attempt to run
these programs by themselves.
*******************************************************************
*******************************************************************
DOS-CALC utilizes a math co-processor if one is present. If
unexpected errors occur, check to be sure the math co-processor has
not loosened from its socket. I mention this because it has
happened with my portable computer.
